Here is my Photoshop Manipulation Summative, of War and Protest.
1. What is the theme you are exploring and why have you chosen it?
For my final photo manipulation, I chose the theme of war and protest. The war that stood out the most to me was the Vietnam War it was one of the main studies in English last year; the war also intrigued me. I remembered from that unit that protests were a big part of that war because many people were against the war. The controversies over this war played a big part in the history of this war. The reason I’m exploring this theme of war and protest is due to the fact that I found that wars are a huge part of our history and that they mark turning points in our lives, also they evoke deep feelings in people which are important.
2. Explain the use of two of the elements of design you have used in your composition and two principles of design. Why did you focus on these elements and principles?
The two elements of design I have used in my composition are colour and value. Colour can be seen in my photo manipulation where I used a yellow tint which gave the piece an old paper feeling like parchment from the past. I also used black and white colours which gave the picture a vintage feeling. I chose to use just three colours in my photo because I found the contrast to be effective. Value can be seen in my photo manipulation where I chose to use light and dark images in my photo. I used dark images to draw the viewer’s eye to particular images. Then from the darker images, I started making other representations lighter in contrast. I chose to focus on these elements and principles of design because I feel they would be the most useful for portraying my theme of war and protest in a stark and dreary fashion.
